The 28 year old is keen to force his way back into Roy Hodgson’s national team set-up and feels that in order to do so he must seek a move back to the Premier League next month.

Ruddy collected his one and only cap to date in August 2012 and is apparently a player Brendan Rodgers wants to bring in, presumably to challenge under-fire custodian Simon Mignolet.

Whilst Ruddy would undoubtedly be a more commanding back-up option to Aussie Brad Jones he is arguably not a player who could be considered a ‘step-up’ from Mignolet and isn’t therefore a signing that makes a great deal of sense.

Ruddy did impress in spells during his time in the Premier League but is perhaps not the right man for the job on this occasion.
