The Reds haven’t given up hope of landing Cech.

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech remains a transfer target for Liverpool, who are now considering a loan move for the out of favour stopper, according to the Mirror.

Patience has finally run out with Simon Mignolet at Anfield and the Belgian was replaced by backup ‘keeper Brad Jones for the Premier League clash with Manchester United on Sunday and will also be left out of the starting XI for the Capital One Cup quarter-final.

However, Jones is not seen as the ideal option either and manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring in a new figure between the sticks to try and revive his side’s woeful season to date.

Cech meanwhile has been usurped this term from the No.1 spot that he has held at Stamford Bridge for the past 10 years by the return of Thibaut Courtois from his three impressive years on-loan with Atletico Madrid.

This fall down the pecking order in West London has led to much speculation that the 32-year-old would be leaving the Blues, but Jose Mourinho is keen to retain the services of the Czech Republic international.

Yet Mourinho would be open to a loan deal for Cech and with the Reds no longer seen as a title rival the Portuguese coach would be willing to entertain the idea of allowing the ‘keeper to join the Merseysiders temporarily.
