Manchester United transfer news
The Netherlands playmaker has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford after his fine form in Serie A, as well as under van Gaal during their time together with the Dutch national team.
United signed the likes of Angel Di Maria and Ander Herrera this summer but still want more additions in midfield, with Strootman looking like being a priority target for this winter.
The 24-year-old may be available for around £30m and looks a bargain for that price given his superb ability to dictate play and control the flow of the game from the middle of the park.
It is expected that United will bid for Strootman as soon as the transfer window opens on the 1st of January, and that the club hope to have the deal wrapped up this season, rather than waiting until the summer.
