26 year old Liberty Stadium ace Bony has recently signed a new one year contract extension but is still strongly linked with an exit from the South Wales side and could be interested in a high-profile move to Anfield.

Rodgers has seen summer signings Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli both fail to impress since moving to Merseyside and their collective failure has been compounded by the loss through injury of Daniel Sturridge for much of the current campaign and the Liverpool boss wants to bring in a striker in January.

The Northern Irishman had taken an interest in West Brom’s Saido Berahino but his recent arrest for drunk-driving has left Rodgers to shift his attention away from the England Under-21 man, no doubt keen to not bring in another potentially disruptive influence given the issues he has had with troubled Italian Balotelli.

The fact Berahino has gone nine Premier League games without a goal is no doubt also a concern.

Bony on the other hand has proven a big success since making his £12m move from Vitesse Arnhem to Swansea City in July 2013, the powerful forward racking up 24 goals in 42 Premier League starts.

Rodgers is ready to offer £20m for Bony and will make Borini available on an initial loan deal that could lead to a permanent switch at the end of the season.

Sunderland had been linked with a move for Borini but the former AS Roma man turned down a summer switch to the Stadium of Light outfit but could perhaps be more inclined to join a Swansea City side sitting comfortable in the top half of the table.

Though Bony is likely to miss upto a month of the season whilst away on African Nations Cup duty Rodgers is still keen to land the in-form forward.
