Juventus and Inter Milan are also battling for the Swiss star, whose first-team opportunities at the Allianz Arena have been restricted this term under Pep Guardiola.
All term in fact, Shaqiri’s only made three Bundesliga starts – with most deeming him surplus to requirements at the German champions.
The Reds are now favourites to secure Shaqiri, as they’re making a permanent offer; whereas the Italian giants are only interested in taking Shaqiri on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
The 23-year-old is stocky, technically capable and has a serious eye for goal – and despite Liverpool’s abundance of attacking midfield talent, he’d be an impressive acquisition for Brendan Rodgers.
