Liverpool have been handed a boost with the news that Southampton will be without their star man…
Victor Wanyama is likely to miss the decisive clash between Southampton and Liverpool next month, after suffering a hamstring injury during the Saints 1-0 FA Cup win against Ipswich Town on Wednesday.

Reports in the Daily Express confirm that Wanyama went down seconds before half time in the clash at Portman Road, while his manager Ronald Koeman has already bemoaned the midfielder’s injury, which could see him ruled out for several weeks.
Koeman said: “We played with very good organisation. It was difficult, it was tough and it was difficult to play out there. There were a lot of long balls and battles and we scored with our first chance.
“We kept another clean sheet and that is important. We were prepared for the game and we showed that. Victor Wanyama is a pity. Before the match I spoke to him and told him he would have 45 minutes, and he got injured with 10 seconds of the half left!
“He will have a scan tomorrow and we will see, but he will be missing for a few weeks. It is difficult. I won’t necessarily go into the transfer market, I have young lads who we can use.”
Saints face a resurgent Liverpool side in a clash that could have a massive impact on the Premier League’s top four positions on 22 February.
