Mario Balotelli has no intention of moving on just yet.

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has told his manager Brendan Rodgers that he wants to stay at Anfield during the January transfer window, report the Daily Star, despite the Italian international having failed to find the net in a Premier League game for the Reds so far.

Balotelli has reportedly told Rodgers that he wants to stay at Anfield to fight for his place, despite having been unable to secure a first team spot ahead of the likes of Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert during recent matches and having rarely performed to his potential in a Liverpool shirt so far.

Since arriving from Serie A giants AC Milan for a fee of £16 million in the summer, Balotelli has just scored one goal for the club – a late winner in a Champions League group stage clash against Bulgarian minnows Ludogrets Razgrad, although he has been denied by fine goalkeeping performances on a number of occasions.

Balotelli has been linked with a swift return to Serie A in January as the return to fitness of Daniel Sturridge is likely to push him further down the pecking order – but the former Manchester City star is determined to stay and fight for his place.
