The Clarets are not keen on selling the 22 year old forward this month, despite the fact that the striker is out of contract in the summer, but Liverpool’s offer may just prove very tempting.
The Anfield side will look to agree a deal with the Turf Moor side on deadline day with the Merseyside outfit then offering to loan the player back for the remainder of the campaign.
Such a move could perhaps suit all parties though La Liga side Real Sociedad are also said to be hot on the heels of the Burnley man.
Ings netted 26 goals last term to help Sean Dyche’s side secure promotion to the Premier League and the former Southampton man has shown this term he is able to make an impact at the highest level, scoring seven top tier goals thus far this term.
Rodgers is keen to strengthen his attack and may feel Ings is a strong long term prospect.
Should Liverpool make such a signing then one wonders what the future might hold for the likes of Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini.
