The Northern Irishman has hailed the atmosphere and the quality of football on show in previous games between the two clubs, and is excited to be preparing for another one after an enjoyable two and a half years at Anfield.

“I’ve been involved in a few of the games over past two and a half years and they are wonderful games to be involved in. They go so fast, they are full of emotion, and the quality of the football at times has been outstanding under intense pressure,” Rodgers was quoted by the Daily Mirror.

“They are incredible games to be involved in as a manager and a player.

“Whether it’s at Anfield or at Goodison they are tough games. But we are playing well and arriving into the game creating opportunities that we weren’t at the beginning of the season.

“So we are really excited about the game.”
