The captain of the Under 17’s side at Deportivo Saprissa had a trial at Old Trafford just a year ago while David Moyes was in charge at the club. However, despite impressing it has taken until now for the Red Devils to make a move for the youngster.

Hernandez can play at either left back or as a left winger, and could fit right in to manager Louis van Gaal’s prefered 3-5-2 formation at wing-back. Even so it is unlikely that he could make an impact immediately at the Mancunian side.

The player’s youth coach Randall Chacon confirmed that the youngster is likely to move to the Premier League club: “The information I have is that this boy, Hernandez, is almost certain to be signed by Manchester United.”
