Stade Malherbe Caen striker Emiliano Sala has been named the Ligue 1 Player of the Month for February.
Having struggled for game time at Girondins de Bordeaux, the Argentine forward moved to Caen on loan in the January transfer window.
The switch is paying off for both player and club, and the 24-year-old is thriving at the Stade Michel d’Ornano and appears keen to make the most of his first-team opportunity.
The Normandy club have found a player with a point to prove and a sure eye for goal.
He scored four times in February-against Paris Saint-Germain in a 2-2 draw, against Olympique de Marseille in a 3-2 victory, and against Racing Club de Lens in a 4-1 triumph at home.
His goals have seen Patrice Garande’s side pull away from the drop zone and they currently sit in 14th position heading into this weekend’s fixtures.
Sala beat his teammate Cedric Kante and Olympique Lyonnais attacker Nabil Fekir to the award.
Youssouf Hadji of Nancy won the Ligue 2 Player of the Month prize.
