Montreal Impact’s hopes of becoming the first MLS side to win the CONCACAF Champions League took a boost last night as they beat Costa Rican giants Alajuelense 2-0 at home in the semi-final first leg.

Despite the positive score, the tie is far from over. The humidity and intensity of the crowd in Costa Rica will provide a very different challenge, as tournament favourites Club America found out when they lost 3-0 in Central America in the first leg of their own semi-final.

The second leg will take place on 7th April.
