Nou Camp side run riot over woeful opposition.
Barcelona looked in the mood for their fixture with lowly Getafe with Luis Enrique’s side clearly keen to maintain their lead over La Liga title rivals Real Madrid.
The home side took the lead after nine minutes with Lionel Messi dinking in a nice Panenka penalty kick to get the ball rolling.
On 25 minutes in-form Uruguayan Luis Suarez dispatched a superb volley past hapless keeper Vicente Guaita.
Three minutes later mercurial midfielder Xavi fed Neymar and the Brazilian imperiously curled the ball home to make it 3-0.
On the half-hour the game was over as a contest as Xavi fired in a golazo from outside the box.
With five minutes of the first half to play Luis Suarez netted his second, and Barcelona’s fifth, with a superb effort.
Just two minutes into the second period and it was 6-0, Lionel Messi producing another fine finish.
Enrique elected to take off Xavi and with that Barcelona took their collective feet off the pedal and saw out the game without any further goal-bound efforts.
