Hakan Calhanoglu has been a revelation for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, and is attracting the attention of some top clubs. His stock may be on the rise once again after his performance against Bayern Munich in the league this past Saturday, with the Turkish star smashing a trademark free kick past a helpless Manuel Neuer.
The 21-year-old had been one of the standout performers even before the free kick, orchestrating the attack of a Leverkusen side that were dominating the Bundesliga champions (who were admittedly resting players ahead of their clash with Barcelona).
The fact that he was expected to score when the free kick was awarded really says something about his quality, and the pressure all seemed to be on Neuer.
Germany’s No.1 couldn’t get anywhere near the ensuring strike, and was left red faced as he was forced to pick the ball out of his net.
If Arsenal weren’t sure before, this might have convinced Arsene Wenger to go all out.
