Manchester United look set to follow up their deal to sign PSV winger Memphis Depay with a move for another Dutch international – Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar.

The Red Devils are known to be keen to strengthen at the back this summer after a frustrating season in that department, with senior players such as Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling failing to impress on a regular basis at Old Trafford.
Youngsters such as Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair have also played a surprisingly high number of games, and it could be that Vlaar would prove a significant upgrade in that position for next season.
The 30-year-old has performed superbly since joining Villa, establishing himself as one of the most solid centre-backs in England, and he will now be available on a free transfer at the end of this season.
According to the Metro, this could put United in pole position to snap him up by the time the transfer window opens again.
