Prolific Ligue 1 striker Alexandre Lacazette backed to join Manchester United

Olympique Lyonnais forward Alexandre Lacazette has been tipped to join Manchester United in a big-money transfer in the summer window by French football journalist Jonathan Johnson.

Lyon have been in formidable form this season, and much of their success at battling Paris Saint-Germain for top spot and qualifying for the Champions League is owed to the goal-scoring prowess of their star forward.

The France international has scored 27 goals in Ligue 1 this term – the highest in the division – and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed around Europe with the Red Devils and Liverpool interested.

Jonathan Johnson believes that the attacker could move on in the summer – most likely to Old Trafford – but only ‘crazy money’ would be accepted by Lyon for their prized asset.

He said, “I think that Manchester United could snap Lacazette up but it is completely up to the player to decide when he wants to leave,” as quoted by the Metro.

“By crazy money, I am talking upwards of €40m.”

Fellow French football journalist Julien Laurens tweeted that Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas had announced that Lacazette wished to stay at the Stade de Gerland next season, however it seems that the announcement could be an attempt by the Ligue 1 outfit to encourage more substantial offers for the highly sought after 23-year-old.
