The ninth minute goal was the first salvo in the two legged tie.

German Cano was the scorer, getting on the end of a Salinas pass to prod the ball past Tiago Volpi from close range.

Since the goal Pachuca have continued to look the more threatening, but have been so far unable to add to their slender advantage.

Queretaro are lucky to even be in the final – 8 weeks ago they were in last place in the table, but have won seven of their last nine games.

The second leg of the tie will take place on Sunday, with the kick off at 8pm local time.
