“I spoke to Brian and he denied everything. He was in shock after the test results. He said he didn’t take anything. He mentioned that he met with some friends and something could have happened then, but if it did he wasn’t aware,” said the club president, Victor Blanco, to the site Ole.

This is bad news for Racing on the eve of the Copa America. The young striker, who is just 20 years old, will now have stay away from the pitch until the case is resolved.

Last week he had an excellent game against Independiente in which he scored two goals that helped his team qualify to the next stage of the Copa Argentina.

It is still not clear what substance was detected in Fernandez test, but the club president said they will wait for the final resolution and that Fernandez will have their full support during this hard time.
