Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd target drops HUGE transfer hint on social media; Belgium star wants to play with Wayne Rooney

Manchester United really could be about to enter the transfer battle for Christian Benteke, as the Aston Villa striker’s recent activity on Twitter has caused immense speculation.

Today, it was reported that Louis van Gaal is considering going head-to-head with Liverpool for the Belgium international – who has a release-clause of £32.5m – and the 24-year-old may be hoping that the speculation proves true.

Benteke favourited a tweet that described the Villa Park ace as the ideal back-up for Old Trafford captain Wayne Rooney:

United may be forced to enter the summer window for a striker after losing two centre-forwards ahead of the 2015-16 campaign.

Robin van Persie sealed a transfer to Fenerbahce, while van Gaal spurned the chance to keep new Chelsea signing Radamel Falcao at the Theatre of Dreams beyond his season-long loan deal.

Benteke has previously been linked with the Blues, yet the Premier League champions may have cooled their interest having secured Falcao’s signature.
