Liverpool and Everton want Real Madrid star on loan

Liverpool hope to sign Real Madrid’s Russian star Denis Cheryshev on loan in the January transfer window, according to reports in the Spanish press.

Marca have said the winger has become disillusioned with the limited opportunities at the Bernabeu and is looking to force a move.

He has played just 58 of 1,530 possible minutes under former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez this season, and with Euro 2016 on the horizon, wants to maximise his game time to ensure he earns a place in Russia’s squad. He has nine caps for Russia so far in his career.

The paper report that Cheryshev has been admired by Premier League sides for a long time, claiming that his pace and direct approach would be well-suited to the English top flight. They go on to state that Everton are also keen on a deal, and will fight their city rivals for his signature.

It is thought the two Merseyside clubs will face competition from La Liga outfit Villarreal. Cheryshev spent last season on loan with El Submarino Amarillo, scoring four goals in 26 games.
