Daley Blind, Radamel Falcao and Anthony Martial have all joined Manchester United on recent deadline days, but the Red Devils have stood still when they’ve arguably needed a big-name signing the most.
Louis van Gaal’s side are fifth in the Premier League table, five points adrift of the top four and 10 behind leaders Leicester City, but they are yet to invest on the final day of the January transfer window.
However, an Old Trafford great has not missed the opportunity to do some much-needed business. Gary Neville’s Valencia are languishing in 12th in La Liga and have not won under their new manager.
Neville has given his squad a much-needed boost with the signing of Denis Cheryshev on loan from Real Madrid for the rest of the season. The Russian has made only five appearances for Real this term.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old winger throughout the past 12 months, but their interest in him seems to have cooled since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp as manager in October.
Cheryshev scored four goals and contributed nine assists on loan at Villarreal in the 2014-15 campaign to bring himself to the attention of Liverpool. Watford were thought to be keen on him this month.
