The Reds are certainly in need of an extra defender with the loss of Martin Skrtel noticeably hurting them in the loss to West Ham United over the weekend. Luckily, Liverpool seem to have found the man to replace him over in Serie A and will fight to land Martin Caceres.
According to the Metro, Liverpool are leading the race to sign the 28-year-old Juventus defender, temporarily edging out Inter Milan and Fenerbahce among teams that have reportedly made offers. Caceres has been part of the Juventus team for four straight Serie A titles, but has yet to make at least 20 league appearances in a single year with the club.
Caceres has had a hard time earning back the trust of Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri after earning a suspension for a drunk driving incident earlier this season.
Martin Skrtel is expected to miss significant with an injury as they head into their FA Cup match with Exeter City, League Cup semi-finals against Stoke City, and a crucial showdown with Arsenal.
