£50m EPL hotshot to snub Manchester United; striker holding out for Real Madrid

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is primed to reject any approach from Manchester United as he holds out to join one of the clubs he perceives to be a major European superpower.

According to The Sun, the Belgium international appears primed to leave Goodison Park during the summer in order to try and establish himself at one of the continent’s giants.

The powerhouse frontman is set to have no shortage of admirers, having bagged 15 goals and contributed five assists in 20 Premier League outings to date this term.

The Sun note that United are keen on the forward—apparently valued at £50 million by United according to the tabloid—and will attempt to move for the striker in the summer.

However, Lukaku, motivated by a desire to move away from England and by his perception of the changing hierarchy of Europe’s top sides, is not interested in Old Trafford. Instead, the 22-year-old is understood to be awaiting interest from Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid or French giants Paris Saint-Germain, for whom Lukaku may well represent an ideal upgrade on ageing talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

While Lukaku has matured greatly in recent seasons, any big-name suitors may be slightly cautious at spending big money on the striker, who so wholly failed to replace Didier Drogba at the first (and to date only) truly major club he’s played for, Chelsea.
