West Ham and Sunderland have joined the race for Lazio midfielder Onazi according to Nigerian newspaper Punch.

The report claims that the Hammers and the Black Cats are both considering making a bid for the Nigerian international.

Everton, Southampton, Swansea, Panatinaikos and Turkish champions Besiktas have also been closely linked with the 23-year-old who lifted the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Onazi started 14 times in the league for Lazio last season making a total of 22 appearances for the Serie A outfit.

The report claims that West Ham are considering making a move for Onazi after being priced out of a deal for Besiktas midfielder Atiba Hutchinson.

Sunderland meanwhile are keen on bolstering their midfield after only just escaping relegation from the Premier League last season.

Punch claim that the 23-year-old midfielder is currently valued as being worth £7 million by Lazio and he does have another two years remaining on his current contract.
