Chelsea ready to make £68m bid for 25-goal ace

Chelsea are ready to increase their offer for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku to £68 million according to the Daily Star.

Per the source, Everton value the Belgium international striker as being worth £75 million and have already rejected a £57 million bid from Chelsea this summer.

The Blues are now reportedly prepared to bid even higher with an offer almost meeting the Toffees valuation.

Everton do not want to sell Lukaku and initially set his valuation at £75 million to ward off interest but Chelsea have not been put off pursuing their former striker.

The Blues sold Lukaku to Everton two years ago for £28 million – less than half of what they are now offering him.

If Chelsea were to sign Lukaku for £68 million it would break the British transfer record – unless Manchester United complete the transfer of Paul Pogba from Juventus for over £100 million.

Lukaku scored 25 goals in 46 games for Everton last season, including 18 strikes in 37 Premier League outings.
