Manchester City’s Champions League dreams have been boosted by the latest Barcelona team news.
City’s hopes of making the last 16 were dented by a 4-0 away defeat to Barca a fortnight ago, but vital revenge could be on the cards this week because the La Liga giants will come to the Etihad Stadium weakened by multiple injuries.
Three key first-team players – Andres Iniesta, Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba – are all ruled out, per The Sun.
Between them, the trio have racked up 17 La Liga appearances already this season and all have featured in every one of the club’s Champions League fixtures.
However, they will be on the sidelines on Tuesday.
Iniesta’s absence could help City cut off the supply line to Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, while Pique and Alba being out makes Barca’s defence significantly more vulnerable against the likes of Sergio Aguero and David Silva.
Silva has been an international teammate of Iniesta, Pique and Alba.
Combined, the three Spanish Barca boys have way over 200 senior caps.
