Leicester City vs Man City starting teams: Guardiola opts for Navas on the wing while Ranieri sticks with the tried and trusted

Leicester City are hosting Manchester City this evening as they look to put an end to their poor Premier League form. Pep Guardiola’s men have other intentions, with City seeking a victory to ensure that they do not fall further behind leaders Chelsea, who beat them 3-1 in their own backyard last weekend.

Both sides are fresh from disappointing Champions League results midweek. Leicester were obliterated 5-0 by Porto, although they will still progress to the knockout stages as group winners. City were held to a 1-1 stalemate by Celtic, and had to settle for being runners up behind Barcelona.

Guardiola has reverted to a four-at-the-back after their back-three was destroyed by Antonio Conte’s Chelsea. Bacary Sagna partners John Stones in Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi’s absence. The Spaniard has opted for his compatriot Jesus Navas on the wing instead of Leroy Sane, Nolito or Raheem Sterling.

The secret to Leicester’s success last campaign was Claudio Ranieri sticking with the same side week-in, week-out to build cohesion. He has done the same today, with Danny Drinkwater being the only notable absentee.
