AC Milan transfer news: €60m striker on radar, Chelsea target and homegrown ace renewal updates

With just a week to go until AC Milan are scheduled to see the takeover of the club completed, fresh transfer speculation has emerged.

The Rossoneri will be hoping that things go to plan this time round after two previous postponements, and if reports are to be believed then they could be plotting some significant moves in the summer transfer market.

According to Tuttosport, as reported by Football Italia, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is the top target for the Italian giants as they look to make a marquee signing to signal their intent.

The 29-year-old won’t be cheap though as the report claims that he’ll command a €60m fee, although Milan could pay in instalments with €20m being handed over in the first year.

Signing the French international would certainly be a major coup, but with 17 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions this season, could there be an argument that there are better options out there for that amount of money?

There’s no denying Benzema’s class, but if Milan do have significant funds available for transfers this summer, then they will have to spend it wisely.

Elsewhere, Mattia De Sciglio has spoken about his future at the San Siro with his current contract set to expire next summer.

Speculation has linked him with an exit, which could prove to be rather unpopular with a significant number of supporters, and although he has insisted that he is remaining calm and awaiting developments, it wasn’t quite the reassurance hoped for by many.

“I’m thinking about football, this shirt and to honour the captain’s armband,” he is quoted as saying by Calciomercato. “I still have a year left on my contract just as some of my teammates, my agent tells me that there is little to say.

“We’ll sit down and talk about it with the club to evaluate what to do. There’s not much to say because we have not spoken, we’re calm for now.”

Meanwhile, there is also a degree of anxiousness over Alessio Romagnoli. The centre-half is seen as a major figure in Milan’s future and has been impressive again as an ever-present in the backline this season, but as he awaits a new contract too, Chelsea’s interest reportedly hasn’t gone away, as per Calciomercato.

Although the 22-year-old has a contract with Milan until 2021, he’s on just €2m-a-year, and given Chelsea could offer him significantly more, it remains to be seen if the takeover allows the Rossoneri to offer him a more lucrative deal to ensure that he stays.
