Arsenal are reportedly in the running to seal the transfer of Real Madrid attacking midfielder James Rodriguez when his loan with Bayern Munich comes to an end.
The Colombia international has long been regarded as one of the top attacking players in the game, though he struggled to play regularly and fulfil his potential in three years at the Bernabeu.
According to Gol Digital, he’s now a candidate to replace Atletico Madrid target Mesut Ozil at Arsenal in a surprise development.
It is claimed that Real Madrid are looking for buyers for Rodriguez, who could be an ideal like-for-like replacement in that number ten role for Arsene Wenger’s side.

Still, Gooners may not be convinced by the 26-year-old after his inconsistent performances in recent years, following on from that summer where he shone at the 2014 World Cup.
Rodriguez won the Golden Boot in that tournament with a series of exciting displays that saw him move from Monaco to Real Madrid later in the summer.
Still, that proved something of a flash in the pan and Arsenal may need to do better if they are to fill a key role like the one possibly set to be vacated by Ozil.
