AC Milan transfer news: €40m+ swap deal lined up by rivals for key figure

AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future is back in the headlines this week, and Juventus are reportedly considering a new bid for him.

The 18-year-old suffered a backlash prior to his side’s Coppa Italia clash against Verona on Wednesday night amid speculation emerging over his future.

It comes after a contentious summer in which he initially rejected the club’s offer of a contract renewal before eventually signing and committing his future.

With sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli and agent Mino Raiola in a public spat, Calciomercato report how Juventus are plotting a bid for the shot-stopper, who is already considered to be Gianluigi Buffon’s long-term replacement for Italy.

It could be the case for both club and country if they get their way, with the report noting that Juve are preparing a bid of between €40m and €50m, and will include Wojciech Szczesny in the deal to offer Milan an opportunity to bring in an immediate replacement.

Given the two clubs agreed on the transfers of Mattia De Sciglio and Leonardo Bonucci this past summer, it’s suggested that relations between them will allow for negotiations to take place.

However, this is surely a different matter given it’s Donnarumma, a youngster who came through the ranks at Milan and is considered an integral part of their long-term future, not to mention the fact that they surely don’t want to see him join a direct rival and strengthen them.

Whether the club will consider bids next summer remains to be seen, but it will undoubtedly take a significant bid to prise him away given his quality, future prospects and importance to Milan.
