Barcelona are reportedly lining up a big move for versatile Bayern Munich star David Alaba in next summer’s transfer window, according to Don Balon.
The Austria international is one of the top players in the world and is capable of filling a number of roles in either defence or midfield.
It seems it is this versatility that could appeal to Barca, who could do with Alaba as an option at centre-back, left-back or defensive midfield.
Don Balon claim Alaba would likely cost around £88million and that he is keen to seal a transfer away from the Bundesliga at the end of this season.
The 25-year-old has been at Bayern for his entire career so far, first becoming a first-team regular for the Bavarian giants during the 2011/12 campaign.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if the talented left-footer felt keen to try a new challenge abroad, and there aren’t many clubs bigger than Barcelona.
The Catalan giants have spent big in recent times, bringing in Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho since the shock and blow of losing Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
Alaba would be another major statement signing for the club as they look to continue their dominance in La Liga.
