Barcelona keen to discuss €40m-rated target with Euro giants, Juventus eye move

After losing two key cogs in midfield this summer, Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde will arguably be seeking reinforcements in that department ahead of the new campaign.

Both Andres Iniesta and Paulinho have left the Catalan giants since the end of last season, although the La Liga champions did officially announce the signing of Arthur to help fill the void left behind by the duo.

However, with Barcelona expected to compete on multiple fronts next season as they look to build on their domestic double from last year, Valverde will perhaps need additional quality and depth at his disposal in midfield in order to achieve the objectives demanded of him and his squad and ultimately replace the players that he has lost.

In turn, Mundo Deportivo claim that the Barca hierarchy are keen to hold talks with Paris Saint-Germain over Adrien Rabiot, as a brief encounter with club president Nasser Al Khelaifi on Sunday at the World Cup final didn’t present enough time to advance the situation.

As per AS, the Frenchman could cost up to €40m. Nevertheless, given he arguably possesses the technical quality and creativity to fit into the Barcelona style of play and has developed a winning pedigree during his time in Paris with countless domestic honours, it could be an astute addition at the Nou Camp.

Nevertheless, Barca could face competition for his signature as Calciomercato claim that Juventus are also keen on Rabiot as they also look to bolster their own midfield options despite already securing the signing of Emre Can on a free transfer this summer.

With that in mind, it remains to be seen if Barcelona are able to fend off the competition and land Rabiot’s signature, as much will seemingly still depend on convincing PSG to sit down and discuss a possible deal.
