With their Premier League opener fast approaching, Man Utd suffered a setback with defeat to Bayern Munich on Sunday night.
The Red Devils get the new campaign underway with their clash against Leicester City at Old Trafford on Friday night, and so they are just days away from their first competitive game.
Unfortunately for Jose Mourinho, they won’t head into that with a morale boost as they fell to a 1-0 defeat to Bayern at the Allianz Arena, with Javi Martinez nodding home the only goal of the game, as seen in the video below.
With an underwhelming transfer market to this point coupled with the ground that they have to make up this season having finished 19 points adrift of rivals and champions Man City last year, there isn’t a huge amount of positivity currently surrounding Old Trafford.
That was reflected in some of the comments left by supporters during the game on the club’s official Twitter account, as seen below, with many bemoaning the lack of attacking intent from the side while also desperately calling for new signings to arrive before Thursday’s deadline.
Lee Grant, Diogo Dalot and Fred have all signed so far this summer, but time will tell if Mourinho is given another new face ahead of Friday’s season opener as United certainly look as though they may struggle to contend this year.
