Barcelona, Real Madrid target given deadline to make crucial decision over future

Barcelona and Real Madrid will reportedly be on alert this week as Paris Saint-Germain want an answer from Adrien Rabiot on his contract situation.

The 23-year-old will see his current deal expire next summer, which therefore poses the danger to the French giants of seeing him leave on a free transfer.

With that in mind, if it becomes apparent that he will not commit his future to them, they would be wise to consider a sale either this week or in January to at least avoid losing him for nothing at the end of the season.

According to Mundo Deportivo, PSG have sensibly put in place a deadline for Rabiot to communicate his decision as to whether or not he intends on signing a renewal to end speculation of an exit from the French capital.

It’s suggested that he’ll have until Wednesday to make his mind up, and so should he decide that he doesn’t want to renew, that will arguably give the Ligue 1 champions time to negotiate a possible exit with Barcelona linked.

As per Calciomercato, Real Madrid and AC Milan have also been touted as interested parties, and so Los Blancos may well push to hijack their rivals’ move for the French international.

Given the technical quality and creative class that Rabiot possesses, he’d seemingly be a great fit for either Barcelona or Real Madrid, and so it’s easy to see why the pair are being linked with a swoop as his game would fit well with the Spanish style of play.

Nevertheless, Wednesday will ultimately reveal whether or not their chances of snapping him up have increased, provided that the deadline is met and a decision is reached. With the transfer window closing on Friday, the next challenge would then appear to be reaching an agreement in time.
