Liverpool wide-man closing in on transfer deadline day departure

Liverpool ace Lazar Markovic is reportedly closing in on a loan move to PAOK on the final day of the European transfer window.

Premier League clubs have been unable to make new signings since August 9, but several top leagues can still make new recruits today, meaning some players based in England could be set to leave their current clubs.

According to the Daily Mirror, Markovic looks like being one of them as he prepares to move to Greece on loan, though a number of other clubs remain interested in his services.

Despite arriving at Anfield a few years ago as a bright prospect, Markovic has struggled to establish himself in Liverpool’s first-team, spending a lot of time out on loan.

The 24-year-old has also had spells with Fenerbahce, Sporting Lisbon, Hull City and Anderlecht after failing to get into the Reds’ XI on a regular basis.

The Serbia international still doesn’t seem set for a permanent exit, however, with Liverpool perhaps finding it hard to shift the player.
