Real Madrid star drops major clue over his future on European transfer deadline day

Transfer deadline day isn’t officially over until midnight tonight for La Liga and other major leagues, but it looks like Real Madrid star Luka Modric isn’t going anywhere.

The Croatia international has been linked with Inter Milan for much of this summer, according to the Metro, despite being a key player for Los Blancos in recent years and enjoying a particularly good 2018.

Modric’s influential midfield displays helped Real win a third Champions League final in a row at the end of last season, and he was then one of the players of the tournament as his Croatia team reached their first ever World Cup final in Russia this summer.

The Metro report of Madrid president Florentino Perez slamming Inter’s approach for the player, and he seems to have strongly hinted he’s not going anywhere in the next few hours by professing his love for his current club.

‘I’m not just happy at Real Madrid, I’m very happy,’ he is quoted in the Metro.

‘I’m at the best club in the world – it’s where I want to be.’

That’ll be a big relief for Madrid fans, who surely couldn’t have afforded to let as important a player as Modric go as well this summer after already selling Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.

Now for the Spanish giants to make a late splash themselves before tonight’s deadline after a pretty quiet summer in the transfer market.
