RC Abidjan have confirmed that 21-year-old defender Moustapha Sylla has sadly passed away after recently collapsing on the pitch.
The youngster is reported to have died on his way to hospital after a sudden illness, and his funeral is now set to take place next Monday.
RC Abidjan wrote on its official Twitter, “Our defender Sylla Moustapha died this evening after an illness on the pitch.
“Management sends sincere condolences to his family. Rest in peace Moustapha. Rest in peace LION.”
This is sad news for such a young player who had his whole life and career ahead of him, and it will no doubt hit his teammates and fans hard.
