Exclusive: Arsenal face fight to land €65m-rated target this summer

Arsenal, after the disappointment of losing the Premier League by just two points, will work to strengthen the squad during the summer transfer window which will soon be upon us.

The Gunners’ main objective is to strengthen their attack.

If one of Mikel Arteta’s already declared targets is Joshua Zirkzee, there is another big name in the mix in addition to the Dutch player; sensational RB Leipzig star, Benjamin Sesko.

It will be a fierce competition to land him, however, given that Europe’s top clubs have been monitoring him for a while now and also because the Bundesliga striker – whose contract expires in June 2028 – has a release clause set at €65m.

Arsenal face competition for Benjamin Sesko

That’s considered to be at the upper end of the scale by many of the clubs involved.

Arsenal are well positioned for him and have scheduled a new round of contacts with RB Leipzig in the next few days in order to discuss the release clause and payment terms in more detail, according to CaughtOffside sources with knowledge of Arsenal’s plans.

Chelsea are also there as they consider Sesko a possible alternative to Victor Osimhen, their main target.

Benjamin Sesko to Arsenal?

Mauricio Pochettino leaving Stamford Bridge complicates things a little though the Blues will still want to be in the shake up for his signature.

Man United are further away and must first manage their own coaching situation before turning their attentions to what matters on the pitch.

Sesko is being tracked by European clubs outside of the Premier League, such as Napoli, who have identified him as a possible replacement for Osimhen.

AC Milan have already tried to negotiate a lower cost for his clause but without success. The Rossoneri have always had him on their list, even if the chances of him arriving in the Serie A are few at the moment.

Recently, there have also been approaches from Saudi Arabia, but the player prefers to remain in Europe. In general, the possibility of Sesko leaving Germany – despite Leipzig offering him a renewal – is very high.
