Manchester City are set to make a mega-bucks bid for Santos’ Neymar according to according to The Mail on Sunday.

The Premier League Champions are hoping to tempt the Brazilian wonderkid with a huge bid in the hope of beating the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid to the youngster’s signature.

Reports in recent months have suggested that Neymar has already made a pre-contract agreement with Barcelona to join the club either this summer or after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

It is thought the deal would see the Brazilian join the Catalan giants for a fee in the region of £50 million.

Neymar would have to pay the La Liga leaders a fee in compensation were he to break that agreement but it is thought Manchester City are happy to stump up the money should they persuade the player his future lies at the Etihad Stadium.

The Premier League Champions have told Neymar’s representatives that they are happy to beat any offer the La Liga have made.

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is keen to bring in reinforcements after seeing his side fall away in the race for the Premier League title.

It is thought the Italian manager is keen to bring in top-quality players this summer after becoming frustrated with the performances of his cheaper signings last year.
