Check in to Cardiff City vs Bolton Wanderers

Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Davies has turned down the opportunity to join MLS side Toronto FC, according to Sky Sports.

The 36-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and was told by the club that he would not be offered a new deal.

However, despite positive talks with Toronto boss Ryan Nelsen he has decided against a move to Canada.

“It has been a complete roller coaster since first speaking with Ryan Nelsen on 18th April. As it stands today I will not be leaving for Toronto FC as reported,” he said.

“My young family and I were naturally very excited about the opportunity of going to Toronto on a short-term deal but after legal advice we felt that certain obstacles put in our way were too large to overcome.”

Davies also reiterated his desire to give 100% to the club as they race to seal a playoff spot and make an immediate return to the top flight.

“I will be ready if the manager needs me and hopefully have a part to play in helping the club return to The Premier League.”

And he has his own designs on getting back up to the top division by claiming that his new search for a club will include Premier League sides.
