Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo is being targeted by Atletico Madrid, as they look to prepare for life without star striker Radamel Falcao next season.

According to Estadio Deportivo, the 27-year-old could make a move to the team sitting in 3rd place in La Liga, rather than to the Premier League as originally thought.

Falcao has been linked with a host of Europe’s top clubs, such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid, and is certain to be lured away in a big-money move this summer.

Negredo has also earned himself a reputation as one of Spain’s best goal scorers, with 20 in La Liga this season. However, he looked set for a move to England after rumours of being close to joining Everton in the January transfer window.

Arsenal and Tottenham are long-term admirers of the Spain international, and, like Atletico Madrid, are in need of strikers to add to their squads next season.

The Gunners are still missing the goals of Robin van Persie, while Spurs could sell the struggling Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe to take the goal burden off Gareth Bale.

Christian Benteke of Aston Villa has also been linked to the North London duo, as well as Atletico as another possible Falcao replacement.
