Barca look to Slovenian to solve goalkeeping crisis.Barcelona will look to replace the departing Victor Valdes with Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, according to talkSPORT.
The Slovenian is valued at around £20million, and his impressive displays for the Serie A side have also attracted attention from Arsenal, another team on the lookout for a new goalkeeper this summer to challenge Wojciech Szczesny.
It seemed for some time that Barca’s main target to replace Valdes would be Liverpool’s Pepe Reina, though Handanovic now seems to be the priority.
Reina seemed a surprise choice for Tito Vilanova’s side, as the 30-year-old has not been at his best for a few years now at Liverpool, and the club have looked to bring in a new ‘keeper this summer in Simon Mignolet for £9million from Sunderland.
This search for a new shot-stopper comes with the news that the long-serving Valdes is keen to leave the Nou Camp for a new challenge after spending his entire with Barcelona. His desire to leave has attracted interest from big-spending French sides PSG and Monaco, though he could also be a target for Arsenal after expressing a desire to play in the Premier League.
Handanovic has only been with Inter for one season, having previously made a name for himself with Serie A side Udinese.
