Arsenal and a host of other clubs are on red alert after the agent of Martin Montoya confirmed his client had not agreed a new contract with Barcelona, according to the Daily Express.

The 22-year-old is rated as one of the best youngsters coming through at the Nou Camp, but has seen his first-team appearances limited due to the presence of Brazilian international right-back Dani Alves in the side, which has led him to consider his future.

Although he had been linked with a move away this summer, it was hinted that he’d hoped to agree a new deal with Barcelona, only for his agent to now say a free transfer seems possible next summer, with a queue of clubs interested in snapping him up.

As well as Arsenal, his agent lists Inter Milan, Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool as potential suitors for the Spaniard, and the Gunners may be particularly keen to recruit a new right-back with Bacary Sagna’s future at the Emirates Stadium remaining uncertain.

The French defender’s contract is also up next summer, though the Gunners are recently said to have opened talks with him over extending his deal.
