Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has praised the arrival of Brazilian ace Neymar, as well as the recent appointment of new coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino, Marca reports.

The 21-year-old made a keenly-anticipated move to the Nou Camp this summer after emerging as one of the best young talents in the world during his time in Brazil, and the prospect of his linking up with Messi has been one that has excited football fans all over the world.

Barca have got their domestic season off to a flyer, beating Levante 7-0 on the opening day before recording wins against Malaga and Valencia, as well as notching up a Spanish Super Cup victory against Atletico Madrid.

And Messi has spoken of his delight at being able to link up with the mercurial former Santos man, insisting that the two of them are working on their link up play on the training ground.

“We’re getting to know each other on the pitch and adapting our games to each other’s, and the truth is that I’m delighted he is with us,” he told Argentinian press.

And Messi had a similar message when it came to the subject of new coach Tata Martinez, saying that he has settled into life in the Barca dressing room with surprising ease.

“We’re delighted to be working with him. He settled into the squad and the dressing room quickly and got a good reception. We hope things go well for him for his sake and ours; that we can have a great year and enjoy winning titles.”

Although Messi has previously worked under one of the best managers in the world in Pep Guardiola, the diminutive forward said that Martino’s style suits the club’s philosophy perfectly.

“He’s come to a team which fits in with what he wants, with the style of play that he likes, with what he is used to asking of his teams.”
