Star man denied club are in for Bulgarian.
Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has denied that the club are set to make a shock move for Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov when the transfer window reopens in January, according to the Metro.
Earlier this month reports from Spain suggested that the current La Liga champions were lining up a swoop for the stylish Bulgarian as Messi continues to struggle with injury and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines that is likely to see him out until the new year.
It is believed that any move the club would have made would have been on a temporary basis as the 32-year-old is available to play in the Champions League .
However, Messi himself has said that there is no chance the the former Manchester United and Spurs man will be on his way to the Nou Camp.
“It’s not my business to interfere with the club’s transfer decisions but I think it’s impossible for Dimitar to join Barcelona,” he told TV7.
“I haven’t heard the rumour that Berbatov is linked to Barcelona. In fact he is a good player, he has experience in a big team.”
Last season Berbatov was a hero at Craven Cottage, banging in 15 goals in 35 appearances, but he has struggled to find the net this term as the team struggle near the bottom of the table and so far he has only managed to score twice in 10 games.
