United boss David Moyes is set to splash the cash this summer in order to remedy a difficult first season in charge of the club and turn them into title contenders once again.

And two players that have been high on the former Everton man’s wish list have been Pjanic and Benatia as they continue to be the driving force behind Roma’s revolution under new coach Rudi Garcia in Serie A.

Moyes is keen to bring Moroccan international Benatia on board as he is set to lose veteran Nemanja Vidic to Inter Milan this summer, while Rio Ferdinand’s future is also far from certain.

United are keen on bringing Pjanic on board too, as their midfield options have failed to deceive on several occasions this term.

However, they now face a battle to land their signatures as reports from Spain have hinted that the Catalan giants are preparing to pounce on the duo as they look for their own replacement for Carles Puyol.
