David Moyes is keen on adding some much needed steel to his midfield though will have to battle the likes of Liverpool and Atletico Madrid in a race to land the former Arsenal man.
The 26 year old has started just 12 of Barcelona’s 43 La Liga and Champions League fixtures and is ready to call time on his Nou Camp career despite having three years to run on his current contract.
Barcelona are ready to sell Song but will be looking to recoup as much of the £15m they paid Arsenal for his services back in the summer of 2012 though clearly they will only be able to do so if FIFA lifts the transfer ban handed to the La Liga side earlier this month.
Moyes may well be considering the futures of many of his current crop of midfield options with the likes of Darren Fletcher, Michael Carrick, Anderson and Tom Cleverley all playing for their Man United futures.
Prior to his move Barcelona Song spent seven seasons at Arsenal making 217 appearances for the north London club.
