Paul Lambert’s side are in the middle of a relegation fight but are likely to just stay the right side of the perforated line and once the season is over American owner Randy Lerner is ready to finance significant moves in the transfer market with Mexican international Chicharito at the top of his wish-list.

The 25 year old is likely to leave Old Trafford having seem his part-time role in the first team set-up become even more limited this season though Aston Villa may have their work cut out as they battle the likes of Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Tottenham in a race for the £12m-rated striker.

Hernandez has been a prolific goal-scorer since moving to Man United in the summer of 2010 but has found it tough to retain a foothold in the Man United starting eleven.

The Guadalajara born forward has scored 59 goals in 150 appearances, a strike-rate that is all the more impressive when you consider 64 of those appearances were from the bench.

Whilst Hernandez would secure first team football at Aston Villa he is likely to be able to secure a move to a side that can not only offer him a regular run-out but also Champions League action.
