Barcelona and Brazil right-back Dani Alves has urged the club to sign highly-rated Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado this summer, according to Marca.

The in-form Colombian international, valued at around £22m, has also been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Juventus this summer after a highly impressive campaign in Serie A with La Viola.

The 26-year-old was recently co-owned by Udinese as well, but Fiorentina have bought out the full rights to the player as they hope to persuade him to stay at the club, though they are also ready to make a profit on him in this transfer window if the right offer comes along.

Barcelona are known to be in the market for a number of new additions in this transfer window after a highly disappointing season in 2013/14, and Alves believes Cuadrado would be a great signing for the club as they look to rebuild.

The Brazilian added that he is not concerned about whether or not the Serie A ace would be a direct rival for his place in the starting lineup, as he can also fill in well at right-back as well as in his preferred attacking role.

“If they can sign him, I urge Barça to do so. Great players are always welcome,” Alves told a press conference.

“It [the rumours about Barça’s interest] doesn’t bother me. On the contrary: he’s a wonderful young player who has put in some excellent performances for club and country.
“When you see that your club is looking to bring in quality players and boost the competition for places, it’s a source of motivation.”
