Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez after a photo emerged of the star posing by a display of the club’s old shirts at the Emirates Stadium.

Journalist Carlos Bustamente posted the image of the Chilean World Cup star posing and looking happy next to the display on his Twitter page, sparking rumours that the deal could be struck by Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

Earlier in the day on Tuesday it had emerged that Liverpool had finally dropped out of the race to sign him after learning that he and his family had their hearts set on a move to London.
The news also came as a blow to Juventus, who had also been keen to prize him away from the Nou Camp this summer.
Furthermore, should the move go ahead within the next 24 hours, it will give Barcelona the necessary funds to complete a move for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez.
The Spaniards had been waiting to find a buyer for Sanchez before funding their big money move for the controversial Uruguayan hit man.
